The Belfry Club, the Academy's dramatic organization, is the oldest high school dramatic club in the United States. It was founded in 1894 by Frank J. Palmer 1885, who also directed its efforts until 1924 and wrote several of the plays it has produced. The purpose of the club is to promote the interest of amateur theatricals in the school and foster the dramatic interest of the students.
The Belfry produces a fall, winter, and spring show. Recent shows include
Stephen Sondheim's Into the Woods Tom Stoppard's Arcadia Les Miserables (a joint US/MS production) Idolatry, a murder mystery dinner theater Box Office of the Damned (the high school premier) The Mystery of Edwin Drood A Midsommer Night's Dreame
